Copcas – a South African sausage casing supplier – was founded in 2002 with a mission to produce high quality sausage casings from local abattoirs. The idea was born out of the frustration of using inferior imported products.

Since being established, the sausage casing factory in Marlboro, Johannesburg –  (now in Sebenza, Edenvale) has produced both hog casings and sheep casings which are cleaned, selected, measured and salted daily under strict quality control measures.

Initially we only cleaned and supplied hog casings and sheep casings, but now we also supply a top range of spices and other food ingredients to the butchery and restaurant trade.

Hog Casings
This is an “all-purpose” sausage casing that can be used for fresh, cured, smoked, dried and semi-dried sausages. The 32/34 and 36/38 size casings are popular sizes for home sausage making.
Sheep Casings
These are the smallest of natural sausage casings and are more tender when cooked than pork casings, as they are more delicate. You can order 90m bundles of ‘longs’.
Beef Casings
The total length of the small and large intestines is about twenty times the length of the body in cattle. Runners or beef rounds are made from the small intestines. Copcas supplies narrow calf runners in 30m bundles.
